Game-Based Training

LVC TRAINING
Alion’s vendor-agnostic game engine approach allows us to create game-based solutions tailored to your distinct training needs and mission requirements using the best technology on the market.

INCREASED INTEREST. INCREASED IMPACT.

A new generation of trainees requires next-gen training methods. Our game-based training lets you take advantage of technology to keep today’s warfighters engaged via immersive, interactive modules that deliver better outcomes than passive classroom training of the past. With iterative requirement definition and developmental processes, we produce training in parallel with your evolving curriculum and mission needs.

Alion’s game-based training solutions have been incorporated into U.S. Navy Courses of Instruction (CIN) across Surface Navy pipelines, helping train Navy shipboard operators and maintainers on DDG, LHD, and LCS Machinery Control Systems (MCS), Integrated Bridge Navigation Systems (IBNS), and Navigation System Technician (NST) systems. These trainers are deployed at the Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Training Facility (LTF), LCS Training Squadron (LCSRON), and the Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) to help the warfighters of today drive the missions of tomorrow.

OUR GAME-BASED TRAINING SOLUTIONS

U

3D SCANNING

We provide non-contact, non-destructive data capture of the environment to be replicated in the gaming environment, so that we can recreate it as true to life as possible. This 3D scanning allows for both individual component and large-area environments to be precisely documented for use as a 3D art source for your game-based training solution.

i

SYSTEM MODELING

We translate characteristics of real-world systems into operational models designed to invoke appropriate responses within the gaming environment. Deterministic system models allow for non-scripted, free-play training scenarios that include cascading equipment faults using virtual equipment and user interfaces.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Learning is often an evolution. That’s why we rapidly integrate partial solutions to decrease the time it takes to develop a total training solution. Our engineering trainers integrate with bridge trainers to create team training opportunities, taking advantage of best-of-breed simulations to immerse trainees into realistic, virtual, game-based training environments.

FEATURED WORK

READINESS CONTROL OFFICER TRAINER

Our Readiness Control Officer (RCO) training immerses Navy engineering personnel in 3D, virtual, LCS ship environments, enabling them to rehearse planned and/or reactive maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM MAINTENANCE TRAINER

The Navigation System Maintenance Trainer (NSMT) provides a fully interactive DDG-51 Class virtual environment to support Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS) equipment as well as a seamless transition to the Technical Training Equipment (TTE) for training on legacy equipment. This solution helps the U.S. Navy train fleet technicians in troubleshooting of abnormal conditions, casualty control procedures, and maintenance procedures related to IBNS and NST equipment. In addition, virtual training permits hands-on training — via simulation — to troubleshoot individual and system-wide problems, casualty control procedures, equipment set up, and periodic or corrective maintenance procedures.

MACHINERY CONTROL SYSTEM TRAINER

Alion’s Machinery Control System Trainer (MCST) trains prospective MCS operations and maintenance personnel on critical tasks related to the DDG-51 and LHD-8 class and associated equipment. Through this tool, trainees gain familiarity with MCS operational and maintenance principles, practices, and operations.
