THE FUTURE OF DATA FUSION
Data fusion integrates multiple data sources to produce more consistent, accurate, and useful information than can be provided by any one source alone— a critical capability for military and national security operators to get the full picture and make the right call. That’s why we are working closely with government, academia, and industry partners to develop the next generation of advanced data fusion solutions in support of U.S. national security.
Our vendor-agnostic approach and comfort with open source or third-party applications mean that we are moving at the speed of Silicon Valley to bring the best solutions to the DoD. Building on our machine and deep learning capabilities, we provide mission management, mission planning, and data fusion software to streamline and ensure effectiveness in ISR mission areas for multiple platforms. By delivering the ability to ingest all available inputs from multiple sources for an integrated, more robust collection, analysis, and classification tool, we are driving smarter military action and changing what it means to “fuse date” forever.

Ai & MACHINE LEARNING
As a leader in applied artificial intelligence (Ai), we use machine learning to increase speed and performance of the fused solution, while improving human-machine teaming.
We fuse data into your system to allow real-time decision making — including using advanced algorithms to process imagery — with open architecture software that prevents “vendor lock.”
MARITIME PLATFORM SOFTWARE SYSTEMS INTEGRATOR
Alion supports the Navy in the development of advanced data fusion software for maritime platforms. In this role, our architects and software engineers support the continued development and delivery of an integrated, real-time, multi-intelligence data ingest, conditioning, exploitation, display, and dissemination system that supports multi-platform / multi-sensor intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
As an integral part of the DoD team for the onboard Data Fusion and Mission Planning System, our engineers have used several programming tools — such as C++ and Java — to develop this state-of-the-art application.
PROCESSING, EXPLOITATION, AND DISSEMINATION (PED)
Alion’s capability in PED continues to develop, as we expand our offerings into FOPEN data processing, target detection, and information dissemination as well as evolve new capabilities in applied artificial intelligence (Ai) and machine learning. Our PED analysts provide critical data via proven PED processes to our OCONUS customers, while our engineers are supporting the integration of tools that expand the use of Ai and machine learning to full-motion video and still imagery, increasing ISR efficiencies.

Alan Dietrich, Senior Vice President
Al Dietrich assumed the role of senior vice president and group manager for Alion’s Rapid Solutions Group (RSG) in January 2018, following more than a year of success in his previous role as the deputy group manager for the company’s Distributed Simulation Group (DSG). In his role as RSG group manager, Al is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Alion’s ISR and systems engineering and integration work.
