President of Naval Systems
Bruce Samuelsen is Alion’s President of Naval Systems, including Alion Canada. In this role, Bruce coordinates operational activities and ensures world class delivery of our agile engineering, ship design, production oversight, in-service support, training, and modeling and simulation capabilities to DoD, federal, commercial, and international clients.
Bruce joined Alion in 2005 as part of the company’s acquisition of John J. McMullen Associates (JJMA) as the general manager for JJMA’s Systems Engineering business unit. Following the acquisition of Anteon’s Navy contracts, Alion created a sector focused on maritime business, and Bruce assumed the Sector Business Development role. In this capacity, he was responsible for creating and implementing the capture and business processes that recreated a robust Navy-wide business pipeline.
Bruce began his career in 1984 at JJMA as a naval architect. He held various roles in design management and production oversight as an owner representative for multiple ship classes. These roles led to the establishment and growth of a systems engineering and management capability focused on operational optimization for crewing, performance, reliability, logistics, and total ownership cost.
He received a B.E. in Naval Architecture from the State University of New York Maritime College, along with a U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineers license. Bruce also has a Master in Business Administration from George Mason University and has completed the Alion Advanced Management program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
