Australia’s High-Tech Research Vessel Investigator Hits the Water

RV Investigator-on-scientific-seat-trials

The RV Investigator, Australia’s newest scientific research vessel, was delivered to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) on August 4, 2014. Designed by RALion, a joint venture between Alion, Alion Canada and Robert Allan Ltd, Investigator will be among the quietest and most capable scientific research vessels ever built. The vessel will make its first voyage later this year from its home port of Hobart, Australia.

Investigator is equipped for a full range of ocean and atmospheric research and is positioned to enhance deep ocean exploration capabilities in Australia. In fact, Investigator was named one of the “Top Ships for 2013” in IHS Maritime 360’s annual list of the best ship building projects in the world.
