Enabling Safer At Sea Transfers - See Alion's Technology in Progress

In unsteady and unpredictable waters, moving personnel, cargo and equipment safely between ships is often a challenge. To help the U.S. Navy address this, Alion developed an actively controlled ramp technology for the Office of Naval Research.

Alion engineers uniquely designed a system to counteract the forces of waves and weather to function steadily in difficult sea conditions. A quarter-scale version of the transfer-at-sea system proved successful in remaining steady in trials and a full-scale version is currently being developed to further demonstrate transferring personnel from ship to ship, quickly and safely. Alion’s transfer-at-sea system can also be applied to vehicle and cargo transfers.
